Leopold’s brings back free ice cream for kids every Monday in July

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Leopold’s Ice Cream is once again celebrating National Ice Cream Month by rewarding young patriots with a free scoop of ice cream.
The Savannah institution has launched its 16th annual “I Pledge for Ice Cream” project, inviting children ages 12 and younger to receive a free child’s scoop of homemade ice cream by reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.
The promotion will take place every Monday in July from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at both Leopold’s locations:
- 212 E. Broughton St., Savannah
- 107 Charlotte Road, Whitemarsh Island
The “I Pledge for Ice Cream” project was founded in Savannah by Stratton and Mary Leopold in 2010 to encourage patriotism among young children through a simple community tradition.
Since its launch, the initiative has expanded to more than 165 ice cream shops across 39 states. Organizers hope this year’s campaign will reach all 50 states as part of America’s 250th anniversary celebration.
Leopold’s is also inviting ice cream shops across the country to participate in the annual event and continue growing the nationwide tradition.
