Wormsloe to host free art exhibit on ecology, history and Southern identity
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - A new mixed-media art exhibit exploring the connection between history, ecology and Southern identity is coming to Wormsloe State Historic Site.
“Liminal Landscapes: A Mixed Media Dialogue on Art, Ecology, and Southern Identity” will be on display May 28 through June 27, 2026, inside the Visitor Center at Wormsloe State Historic Site.
An opening reception will be held May 28 at 3:30 p.m. The exhibit inside the Visitor Center is free and open to the public.
The curated collection features mixed-media works by University of Georgia artists who developed the pieces after a semester-long immersion in the coastal landscape.
Organizers say the exhibition explores the region’s visual ecology by combining historical research, natural processes, traditional techniques and coastal specimens.
The works are designed to examine the connection between Georgia’s fragile coastal environment and the region’s deep cultural history, while also challenging ideas about Southern identity.
Visitors are invited to explore themes of place, memory and the enduring spirit of the Georgia coast through the exhibit.
General admission is required for visitors who want to access the historic site beyond the art exhibit inside the Visitor Center.
