UPDATE: Boil water advisory issued in Effingham Co. neighborhoods through Tuesday
EFFINGHAM COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) - {UPDATE 7/26/26} The Effingham County Board of Chave issued a boil water advisory until Tuesday, July 28th at 9:00 pm due to a temporary drop in water pressure resulting from work on the water main supplying the Effingham County Water System along Hodgeville Road at Blue Jay Road.
This notice is being issued for the following areas: Staffordshire, Belmont Glen, Cedar Ridge, New Haven, and any surrounding areas affected by a drop in water pressure.
Customers that have experienced water outages and/or low water pressures are advised to use only boiled tap water or bottled water for drinking, cooking, or preparing food. To properly boil tap water for use, customers should:
•Heat water until bubbles come quickly from the bottom of the container;
•Continue heating the water for one minute once it begins to boil;
•Remove the water from the heat source and allow to cool before use.
During a Boil Water Advisory, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommends that boiled tap water or bottled water be used for following:
•Drinking
•Brushing teeth
•Washing food and preparing food and baby formula
•Making ice
•Drinking water for pets
Other activities such as cloth washing, dish washing and other uses can be done without boiling tap water, if done properly.
{ORIGINAL STORY 7/25/26} Effingham County leadership wrote online that they issued a 24-hour boil water advisory out of an abundance of caution due to low pressure.
The 24-hour boil water advisory starts at 9 p.m. on Saturday, July 25.
“Out of an abundance of caution due to low pressure, a 24-hour boil water advisory has been issued for Belmont Glen, New Haven and Staffordshire,” they wrote.
