Georgia Sen. Ossoff makes case for second term ahead of midterm election

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Sen. Jon Ossoff is running for a second term in the midterm election, five years after his 2021 win, alongside Sen. Raphael Warnock, gave Democrats control of the Senate.
Voters heading to the polls remain focused on the economy, inflation and gas prices.
When asked what needs to be done to lower costs, Ossoff said, “Well the tariffs have driven grocery prices to an all time high... we need to repeal the tariffs.”
War in Iran
Voters also remain affected by the war in Iran as the midterm election approaches.
“Ending the war means returning to the path of diplomacy to secure national security interests -- rather than plunging the country once again in the Middle East,” Ossoff said.
Record in the Senate
After five years in the Senate, Ossoff is reminding voters of his track record. He cites bipartisan work on capping the cost of insulin, fentanyl trafficking, veterans’ mental health, protecting kids online and Georgia manufacturing jobs.
When asked what he wants voters to remember about his congressional record, Ossoff said, “I have two little girls at home -- and the safety of Georgia children is my highest priority and that’s why I led the investigation into Georgia’s foster care system and abuse.”
Top priority if reelected
“Stopping these health insurance companies from denying Georgia families from needed health care,” said Ossoff.
