Savannah State unveils road mural celebrating Tiger pride

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Savannah State University will officially unveil a newly enhanced section of North Tompkins Road during a special ceremony Tuesday morning.
The transformed roadway, located between Felix Alexis Circle and the Hubert Science and Technology Complex, now features the university’s signature orange and blue colors along with a prominent mural stretching across both lanes of traffic.
University officials say the project is part of ongoing campus beautification efforts aimed at enhancing the student experience, strengthening school pride and supporting goals outlined in Savannah State’s Uproar 2030 strategic plan.
SSU President Dr. Jermaine Whirl, university leadership, students, faculty, staff and community members are expected to attend the unveiling ceremony.
The project marks another step in the university’s efforts to create a more vibrant and welcoming campus environment.
