Savannah PD arrests man in connection to commercial burglaries

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - The Savannah Police Department arrested 47-year-old Nathaniel Lewis on Aug. 15 in connection with a commercial burglary in the 1700 block of E. Victory Drive.
Police said they responded to the scene of a burglary in progress at around 9:12 p.m. and saw Lewis fleeing from the back of the building. Officers chased Lewis on foot and took him into custody, recovering stolen items from the business.

“This was phenomenal work by our officers,” said Lenny B. Gunther, Savannah chief of police. “On behalf of the department, I especially want to thank local businesses and the community for their support in making this arrest.”

Charges filed
Lewis was charged with three counts of burglary, obstruction and criminal damage to property. Police said his potential involvement in additional crimes is also being investigated.
Savannah Mayor Van Johnson shared information about the arrest on social media.
