Riceboro man sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for possession with intent to distribute

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - A 46-year-old Riceboro man has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison following a drug trafficking investigation, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Georgia.

Kurtis Narada Jones pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute 248 grams of MDMA. U.S. District Court Chief Judge R. Stan Baker sentenced Jones to 120 months in prison, with no possibility of parole, followed by three years of supervised release.

Federal court records show Homeland Security Investigations and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service searched Jones’s home, uncovering large amounts of cocaine, methamphetamine, and MDMA. In his bedroom, agents also seized distribution supplies, including pill presses, cutting agents, digital scales, and a vacuum sealer.

“Those who traffic narcotics in our communities will be identified, prosecuted and brought to justice,” U.S. Attorney Margaret E. “Meg” Heap said in a statement.

The sentence was imposed by the U.S. District Court and announced by the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Georgia.
