Former Battery Creek drum major to perform on BET Super Bowl special

BEAUFORT COUNTY, S.C. (WTOC) - Former Battery Creek High School drum major Elisa Williams is taking her musical talents to the Super Bowl as a member of the South Carolina State University Marching 101 Band.

The Orangeburg-based band is traveling to California this week, where they will perform on the national stage during a Super Bowl special airing Saturday night at 8 p.m. on BET, according to a social media post from the Beaufort County School District.

Williams’ father, Rod Williams, serves as Battery Creek High School’s band director. He said he could not be prouder of his daughter’s achievement.

“Music will take you places you never thought you’d go,” Rod Williams said.

The South Carolina State University Marching 101 Band is known for its performances at major events and has gained national recognition for its musical excellence.
