Chatham County firefighters respond to Wilmington Island house fire
WILMINGTON ISLAND, Ga. (WTOC) - Chatham County firefighters are on the scene of a residential structure fire on Wilmington Island on Monday afternoon.
The Chatham County Fire Department responded at 4:46 p.m. to the 6700 block of Sand Road. Arriving units encountered visible smoke and flames coming from the garage of the home.
Crews launched a fast-attack fire suppression effort to knock down the flames and keep the fire from spreading to the rest of the residence.
Firefighters remain on the scene, and residents and motorists are asked to avoid the area.
