Vigil set up for a person who died from a house fire in Liberty City community
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - A fire at a home on Raybun Street took a person’s life on Sunday night, and now, a teddy bear and flowers are on the corner of the property to honor their life.
A neighbor told WTOC that the man who died from his injuries sustained at the house was a good man and a mechanic, fixing people’s cars and things whenever they needed help.
The person, who has not been named yet, was given life-saving measures at the home on Sunday evening before being transported to a hospital where they later died.
The house is significantly damaged now, as the rental company employees boarded up the home on Monday morning. Savannah firefighters were canvassing the neighborhood to speak with neighbors about the incident and offered smoke alarms to those who didn’t have one.
A car was still parked in the overhead protected driveway, but was covered in dust and debris.
Savannah Fire says investigators have determined that this was an accidental fire that started from the car underneath a carport.
WTOC is waiting to confirm who the individual.
