UPDATE: Bulloch County residents asking for help ‘before tragedy strikes’ in neighborhood

by Olivia Wright

BULLOCH COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) - [UPDATE 4:18 p.m. 8/29/2025] Early on August 29, 2025, Bulloch County Code Enforcement officers, in coordination with the Georgia Environmental Protection Division (GEPD), issued a cease-and-desist order to Savage Trails LLC, according to a press release WTOC received moments ago.

The business was immediately closed due to multiple county permit and code violations, as well as wetlands concerns.

The action follows a months-long investigation by county code enforcement, the release states.

While Savage Trails LLC received a conditional use permit in January 2022 to operate a 13.8-acre RV park and campground, the investigation found that the business has been operating beyond the approved acreage.

Additionally, the facility has been functioning as an outdoor commercial recreational facility without the required conditional use permit.

The case remains an open and active investigation.

Our original reporting, which details the impact Savage Trails has had on the local community, is below.

[ORIGINAL STORY] Neighbors on a Bulloch County dirt road are asking for help from local law enforcement before someone is seriously injured or worse from drunk drivers.

Neighbors tell WTOC that drunk driving and speeding has become a normal occurrence down Mill Branch Club Road.

So much so, that they say they are begging for help from local law enforcement and county leaders.

“To protect this community that is around you, I mean we are just inundated with drunk drivers,” said neighbor Ty Hodges.

Hodges has lived on Mill Branch Club Road for 36 years.

She tells WTOC that she is concerned for the elderly and children who live here.

These are pictures Hodges shared of her, and neighbors’ mailboxes run over multiple times and flipped cars.

“I said this has got to stop, somebody is going to get killed,” said Hodges. “The drivers are drunk and they are leaving parts of their vehicle up here on the mailbox, but they are drunk.”

Neighbors claim that it has been this way since Savage Trails ATV park moved in down the road four years ago.

The Bulloch County Sheriff deputies confirmed that Savage Trails does not sell alcohol to their guests.

The County has confirmed that they also do not have a liquor license.

However, guests bring their own alcohol.

Beer and cans of other alcoholic drinks can be seen littered all around the road.

“Just make sure the drinking stays in the park,” said Hodges. “They are coming out and wreaking havoc on a little dirt road that has been wonderful for 36 years.”

WTOC reached out to Savage Trails to talk about what their alcohol policies are with guests but have not heard back.

Hodges says the problems are worse on the weekends when the park hosts event leaving her concerned about what the upcoming Labor Day holiday will bring.
