Man dead after shooting in the 10000 block of Abercorn St., Savannah PD investigates

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - [UPDATE 6/1/2026] The Savannah Police Department is investigating a fatal Sunday afternoon shooting in the 10000 block of Abercorn St. that resulted in the death of a man.

Southside Precinct officers responded at approximately 2:05 p.m. to a reported shooting in the area.

Officers found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound, he was taken to a local medical center for treatment but later died.

The Chatham County coroner identified the victim as 25-year-old LaShawn Foster.

Law enforcement said investigation suggests that the victim was known to the offender and that they had met to conduct a transaction. Both subjects were armed when the shooting occurred, confirms SPD.

[ORIGINAL STORY] The Savannah Police Department said one adult man was left with serious injuries after a shooting near 10000 Abercorn Street just before 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 31.

WTOC crews saw a heavy police presence at the Suburban Studios Abercorn hotel at around 3:40 p.m.
