Turn your clutter into hope, Old Savannah City Mission needs donations
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - As spring cleaning season picks up, Old Savannah City Mission is asking the community to turn unused items into support for those in need.
The organization is currently seeking donations of clothing, furniture, bedding, and household goods, saying supplies are running low as demand continues.
Leaders say items many people no longer use can help families furnish homes, access essentials, and rebuild stability. Donations also support the Mission’s Bargain Centers, which help fund programs and provide job opportunities for individuals working to get back on their feet.
“Anything purchased at the Bargain Centers helps fund the ministry and creates entry-level jobs,” said Development Director Keith Picklesimer. “We use donated items to help people rebuild and restore their lives.”
Even items that are no longer wearable or usable still serve a purpose. The Mission recycles damaged clothing and fabric, selling materials to recycling companies to generate additional funding while reducing landfill waste. A recently added industrial bailer has improved that process.
Shoppers can also find affordable and unique items at the Mission’s two store locations, which are known for budget-friendly clothing, furniture, and vintage finds.
WHAT’S NEEDED:
- Clothing for men, women, and children
- Furniture and bedding
- Towels and linens
- Kitchen items and household goods
Every donation helps support those in need and create new beginnings.
Drop-offs are accepted on Bull Street, and pickup is available for large items by calling 912-232-1979.
