UPDATE: Amber Alert canceled, Baxley teen located

BAXLEY, Ga. (WTOC) - UPDATE: The Appling County Sheriff’s Office says 13-year-old Layla Alexis Nubian Carter has been located. No other information is being released at this time.

ORIGINAL REPORT: An amber alert has been issued for a girl last seen in Baxley.

The alert was issued for 13-year-old Layla Alexis Nubian Carter on behalf of the Baxley Police Department. Law enforcement said Layla is believed to be in extreme danger.

Amber alert issued for 13-year-old girl last seen in Baxley

The GBI said Layla was last seen at 174 James Drive in Baxley with 32-year-old Giavannie Alexis Carter, traveling in a gray Jeep Renegade, GA tag with an unknown number at 1:00 a.m. Thursday. The girl was abducted at 3:28 a.m., according to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Layla has blonde braided hair and was wearing pajama bottoms and a t-shirt, according to law enforcement. Carter has black braided hair and was wearing a gray/white tank top and black shorts and a black baseball cap with blue trim. Carter is a 32-year-old Black woman who is 5`2 and 140 pounds, according to NCMEC.

The direction they are traveling is not known at this time, according to the GBI.
