Teen arrested following deadly shooting on Pennsylvania Ave.

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - [Update as of 8/25/25 at 1:31 p.m.]: Savannah Police said 17-year-old Zaki Lowe has been arrested in connection to a deadly shooting in the 500 block of Pennsylvania Avenue.

Police said the teen was taken into custody on Monday by Savannah Police and U.S. Marshals.

He has been charged with murder and aggravated assault.

[Update as of 8/23/25 at 10:23 p.m.]: The Chatham County Coroner’s office identified the deceased as 17-year-old Shinobi Pitts.

The coroner’s office said they are investigating this death and say an autopsy has been scheduled.

Pitts was shot at least one time and was pronounced dead at a local hospital, according to the Chatham County Coroner’s Office.

A GoFundMe has been set up for Pitts to help cover the costs of his memorial and burial.

[ORIGINAL STORY 8/22/25 at 9:54 AM ]: The Savannah Police Department is investigating a shooting in the 500 block of Pennsylvania Avenue that left a juvenile dead Thursday night.

Officers responded to the scene at about 7:30 p.m. When they arrived, they found the victim on the ground suffering from gunshot wounds.

Officers rendered aid until EMS arrived and took the juvenile to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

No arrests have been made. The investigation is ongoing.
