Savannah murder suspect found not guilty during jury trial
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - A Chatham County trial has ended in a non-guilty verdict across the board.
22-year-old Jeaustin Jesus Calderon Cerdas was found not guilty on all counts during his jury trial.
Calderon Cerdas was facing charges of malice murder, felony murder, and aggravated assault-family violence for the stabbing death of his mother’s boyfriend.
The victim in the case was Ricardo Jose Urdanivia. Police say Urdanivia was stabbed to death on February 17th of this year.
The Marsh Cove Apartments on White Bluff Road, it was the first homicide of the year, according to Savannah Police. You can view their initial report here.
Cerdas was released from police custody following his trial. No one else is expected to be charged in Urdanivia’s death.
