In the playoff, he responded with a precise approach that found the green, then knocked down the deciding birdie putt to secure the win.

He set the tone early in the final round, making birdies at the first and third holes to move to 19-under and extend his lead. From there, Fitzpatrick stayed steady, rattling off a long stretch of pars, including a key save from distance at the 11th to keep momentum on his side.

Scheffler didn’t go away.

The world’s top-ranked player slowly worked his way back into contention. A birdie at the ninth helped close the gap, and he continued applying pressure on the back nine.

At the 15th, he nearly holed out from the bunker before converting the birdie to get within two. Another birdie on 16 pulled him within a single shot heading to the final hole.

Both players missed the green on 18 in regulation. Scheffler managed to get up-and-down for par, finishing his round with a 67 and posting 18-under.

With another big win secured, Fitzpatrick continues to build momentum as the PGA Tour season moves forward.

Fitzpatrick, needing par to win, couldn’t match it. After a misplayed chip, he missed his par putt, recording his only bogey of the day and forcing a playoff.

Back on the 18th for the extra hole, Fitzpatrick quickly regained control. His approach landed safely on the putting surface, while Scheffler’s did not. With the advantage, Fitzpatrick converted the birdie chance to close it out.

Earlier in the day, Gary Woodland provided a highlight with an eagle on the 18th after holing an approach from 204 yards, moving to 11-under.

The victory is Fitzpatrick’s second in his last three starts and the fourth of his PGA Tour career.
