Jasper County administrator to retire after 22 years of service
JASPER COUNTY, S.C. (WTOC) - Jasper County Administrator Andrew Fulghum will retire effective May 4 after reaching a mutual agreement with County Council to part ways.
The decision follows discussions over the last few months between Fulghum and the council. County Council will appoint an acting or interim county administrator during a search for a permanent replacement.
Fulghum said the new County Council deserves the opportunity to hire their choice of top management.
“This is a new County Council, and they deserve the opportunity to hire their choice of top management to move the County forward under their leadership,” Fulghum said. “It is a very exciting time for the Council and the County in general, and it has been my pleasure to serve them and to work with such a fantastic team of talented staff members over the years.”
Fulghum has served Jasper County for 22 years and worked in the profession for 29 years.
“After 22 years of service with Jasper County and 29 years in the profession, it is time for me to retire from this line of work and seek the next chapter,” Fulghum said. “I am deeply thankful for all who have helped me along the way here in Jasper County, and I look forward to seeing very good things ahead for Jasper County.”
County Council Chairman Joey Rowell said the council appreciates Fulghum’s service during a period of growth.
“We appreciate Andy’s long service to the County during a period of unprecedented growth,” Rowell said. “The County Council thanks Andy for his efforts over the last two decades and certainly wishes him well in retirement. Jasper County has a bright future, and we look forward to continuing to make it a place its residents are proud to call home.”
