Jasper County Sheriff’s Office arrests teen connected to multiple fires

JASPER COUNTY, S.C. (WTOC) - The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office made an arrest Saturday, May 9, after a string of fires in the Purrysburg community and surrounding areas.

Following an extensive investigation, deputies identified and arrested a 17-year-old in connection with multiple incidents involving both forest and property fires.

They have been charged with Arson, Second Degree and Burglary, Second Degree. Additional charges are pending as the investigation continues.

Investigators have determined the suspect was responsible for at least three forest fires and four separate property fires throughout the area.

The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office says they worked diligently alongside partnering agencies to investigate these incidents and protect the community from any further harm.
