IHOP at Gateway Blvd gets a health score of 70 after dead roach, expired milk discovered

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - The IHOP restaurant on Gateway Boulevard has received a score of 70 from the Georgia Department of Public Health during a routine inspection on December 23, 2025.

Inspectors observed pooled eggs contaminated with debris from the bottom of a skillet, multiple food items stored in the reach-in cooler uncovered, cooked soft bacon stored in a non-working cooler, expired milk stored in the reach-in cooler, and a dead roach inside the reach-in cooler near uncovered bacon, according to the DPH.

The restaurant’s previous inspection score was 83. Before that, it scored 91. According to the Department of Health, here is what those scores mean.

  • 90-100 = A for Food Safety Excellence
  • 80-89 = B for Satisfactory Compliance
  • 70-79 = C for Marginal Compliance 
  • 69 and below = U for Unsatisfactory Compliance
