Gen Z Leads Surge in Red Cross Volunteers Across Georgia
ATLANTA, Ga. (WTOC) - New data from the American Red Cross shows a growing, multigenerational network of volunteers supporting humanitarian efforts across Georgia.
According to the organization, more than 3,500 volunteers serve in the Georgia Region, with Generation Z making up the largest and fastest-growing group at 39%. Officials say the increase is driven largely by the growth of student-led Red Cross clubs.
Millennials account for 27% of volunteers, followed by Baby Boomers at 18.5% and Generation X at 11%, who often fill core mission roles. The Silent Generation represents less than 1%, but many of those volunteers have served for decades.
The Red Cross says volunteers make up 90% of its workforce, making it one of the largest volunteer-powered nonprofits in the country.
March marks Red Cross Month, and the organization encourages people to get involved by volunteering, donating, giving blood, or taking lifesaving classes.
