First Alert Weather Days Issued Through Sunday Night

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Today & Tomorrow are First Alert Weather Days. Due to the slight risk for excessive rainfall in many of our counties closer to the coast through tomorrow night.

During this time, Additional Flood Advisories/Flash Flood Warnings could be possible going through tomorrow evening.

We’re currently tracking a widely scattered non-severe thunderstorms and showers pushing west all across the area from the Atlantic.

These should continue to slowly push in as they dissipate through the late evening hours into the overnight. In the meantime, we could see a few of these produce locally gusty winds and heavy downpours.

By tomorrow morning, we’ll look for starting temps in the mid to lower 70s throughout the area. If you have any morning plans, don’t forget the rain gear.

We’ll should continue seeing scattered rain chances pushing in and mostly cloudy skies throughout the first half of the day. These become more isolated at the coast during the afternoon.

However, they’ll then become scattered for inland areas throughout the afternoon as the sea-breeze kicks in. Meanwhile, we’ll be looking for high temps warm into the mid to lower 80s around the area.

Luckily, these are not expected to become severe, but flooding could be a higher concern each afternoon.

These scattered showers and thunderstorms should also linger into tomorrow night as temps cool into the upper 70s by midnight, as the higher rain chances push back closer to again overnight.

Over the next few days, unsettled weather will continue. The stationary front hanging out in the region will keep our rain chances elevated through the start of next week.

Many of us will have the chance to receive 2-4+ inches of rainfall over the next five days. Some communities could get 1-2 inches of rain in just a couple hours within the isolated downpours.

The good news is that temperatures will remain below average with highs in the mid to upper 80s through Tuesday. On the flip side, active weather continues each afternoon through the rest of the week as highs warm to lower 90s.

As these chances slowly decrease each afternoon, heat index values will begin to go back up into the triple digits throughout the 2nd -half of the week and into the weekend.

Tropical Update:

Out in the middle of the Atlantic, a tropical wave that has moved off the west coast of Africa hanging out in the middle of the Atlantic. This system has a 20 percent chance of becoming a tropical depression over the weekend.

This system is moving to the northwest, but impact to land is not expected. Right now, this also expected to make a turn to the north.

Behind that off the coast of Africa, is another area of low pressure that has a 60% chance of developing into a tropical system within the next week. Be sure to stay updated on the latest forecast for any changes!
