Deadly shooting suspect taken into custody in Hampton County

HAMPTON COUNTY, S.C. (WTOC) - [UPDATE 2:12 p.m. 11/10/2025] On November 7, 2025, Jerome Warren was taken into custody without incident.

The Hampton Co. Sheriff’s Office says Warren was wanted in connection with the deadly shooting that occurred on Altman Road near the Whippy Swamp area on November 2, 2025.

No further details will be released at this time as the investigation continues.

[ORIGINAL STORY] The Hampton County Sheriff’s Office is actively searching for 40-year-old Jerome Warren who is wanted in connection with a deadly shooting that occurred on Altman Road, near the Whippy Swamp area, on November 2, 2025.

Warren is wanted for the following charges:

  • Murder
  • Assault / Attempted Murder
  • Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime

The suspect should be considered armed and dangerous. The public is urged to not approach him under any circumstances.

A cash reward is being offered for information leading to Warren’s apprehension.

“Our investigators are working around the clock to locate Jerome Warren and bring him into custody,” said Hampton County Sheriff Anthony Russell. “Within just 12 hours, our investigative team developed critical leads, gathered evidence, and obtained an arrest warrant for this suspect. I want to personally thank our investigators for the outstanding job they have done in such a short period of time. Their dedication and professionalism reflect the highest standards of this agency.”
