A non tropical area of low pressure is located a few hundred miles southeast of Nova Scotia. There is a near 0% chance for tropical or subtropical development today as the system will move over cooler water. A tropical wave near the east coast of the Yucatan Peninsula is producing disorganized showers and storms. There is a 20% chance for tropical development as the system moves to the west-northwest over the next 7 days. Tropical Storm Erin is located over the central tropical Atlantic. Erin is forecast to become a major hurricane this weekend moving northeast of Puerto Rico. At this time most computer models turn Erin to the north next week and keep it well off the east coast of the US. Continue to get regular updates to make sure that turn occurs.
