Crocker Case: Father charged with murder, facing death penalty requests change of venue

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - An Effingham County judge is set to decide whether the Crocker murder case will be moved to a different venue.

Lawyers for Elwyn Crocker, Sr. were in court this week to request a separate hearing before Crocker’s trial.

The court granted their motion for an evidentiary hearing for a change of venue.

The order says that hearing must be scheduled for a date no later than 14 days prior to trial.

Elwyn Crocker, Sr., is charged with two counts of malice murder and two counts of felony murder for the deaths of Elwyn Crocker, Jr. and Mary Crocker.

He also faces an additional count of sexual battery, four counts of cruelty to children, two counts of false imprisonment, and two counts of concealing a death. He is one of three people facing the death penalty in this case, and he pleaded not guilty in court.

Meanwhile, depositions have been scheduled in the case for Roy Prater and Kim Wright, who have both already pleaded guilty in the case.

Those are set for the week of February 2, 2026.
