Catamaran racing making waves on Hilton Head Island Saturday

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, Sc. (WTOC) - Organizers said they’re working to raise the sport’s profile, showcasing beach launches, and world-class sailing right from the sand.
Saturday’s race sends crews from the Lowcountry, Florida, and North Carolina all the way around the island, setting the stage for bigger events in September and October.

This fall, competitors are expected from as far as Argentina, Chile, and Los Angeles, as organizers push Hilton Head as a premier beach catamaran destination that can grow tourism and get more young people into the sport.
WTOC will be the media partner for those events.
