Crash on I-16 westbound completely blocks one lane, traffic backed up

BRYAN COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) - [UPDATE 2:05 p.m. 8/29/2025] The crash on I-16 has still not been cleared, and Georgia State Patrol is now on the scene.

Traffic is now backed up as far as exit 148, WTOC has confirmed.

GDOT has updated their estimated end time for clearing the wreck on I-16, now saying it anticipates the area will be cleared by 2:30 p.m.

[ORIGINAL STORY] A crash on I-16 Westbound near Old River Road has traffic backed up and available lanes reduced.

According to GDOT, the crash happened around noon today and the anticipated end time is around 1:30 p.m., although traffic is still backed up down I-16.

WTOC has observed many drivers getting off on Old River Road and taking Highway 80 westbound instead.

Motorists are advised to use caution and avoid the I-16 area if possible until the crash is cleared.
