Community stands against gun violence while mourning St. Helena shooting victims
BEAUFORT COUNTY, Sc. (WTOC) - “Put Down the Gun Now Young People” held a gun violence awareness event in Beaufort County Tuesday.
The event comes after four people were killed and more than a dozen others were injured in a mass shooting Sunday at a bar on St. Helena Island.

The organizer, Jack Logan, set up a table across the street from Willie’s Bar and Grill.
As cars drove by, Logan waved hello. He also passed out free gun locks for those who walked up to meet him.
Logan says he hopes everyone who passed by him on the street paid attention to his message.
“My message to all people: before you pick up a gun, you use it with malice and being irresponsible, think about the pain your cause to yourself. Think about the pain you’re going to cause to someone else,” said Logan.
‘Put Down the Gun Now Young People,’ is based out of Greenville, South Carolina.
The organization aims to educate children and teens on staying away from guns.
A memorial stands in front of Willie’s Bar and Grill honoring those who lost their lives.

The victims range in age from 22 to 54 years old and are all from Beaufort County.
