Bulloch County schools address concerns over ambulance call
BULLOCH COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) - The Bulloch County School System is addressing community concerns after an ambulance was called to one of its schools Tuesday, January 27, reminding residents that medical emergencies can happen during the school day just as they can anywhere else.
In a social media post, the district said it became aware of widespread concern after someone posted information about the incident from a scanner to a public Facebook page. Officials said they want to reassure the community that student and staff safety is always their top priority.
The school district says all schools have trained medical personnel, trained medical response teams, and direct access to emergency services, including 911 radios. When a medical emergency occurs on campus involving a student or adult, school staff respond immediately and emergency contacts are notified as appropriate.
The district said it cannot share specific information about individual situations because student and employee information, including medical details, is protected by federal privacy laws.
Officials maintain medical information and emergency contacts for all children and adults in their buildings to be prepared for any medical emergencies that may arise.
The Bulloch County School System says it appreciates the concern and prayers that have been shared but asked the community to be mindful not to speculate or share unverified information. Officials said this can cause unnecessary worry and may unintentionally violate someone’s privacy.
The statement emphasized that individual medical emergencies are a normal part of life and can occur in any setting, including schools.
