38 water rescues, 40 missing persons, and 521 jellyfish stings: Tybee Island Ocean Rescue releases 2025 stats

TYBEE ISLAND, Ga. (WTOC) - Tybee Island Ocean Rescue has released the statistics for their 2025 End of Season report.

This year, the summer season lasted from June 2 to October 31.

According to a social media post from Tybee Island Ocean Rescue, these are the statistics:

  • Advisements: 44,743
  • Jellyfish Stings: 521
  • Water Assists: 106
  • Water Rescues: 38
  • Animal Assists: 16
  • Public Transports: 38
  • Missing Persons: 40
  • Medicals: 270
  • Medicals Requiring EMS: 21
  • Jet Ski Assists: 3
  • Fatal Drownings: 0

In the post, Tybee Island Ocean Rescue also provided some clarification on the differences between Water Assists and Water Rescues, along with definitions of Advisements, Missing Persons, and Animal Assists.
