Widespread outages reported in Pooler following storms, 3k customers affected

POOLER, Ga. (WTOC) - The Georgia Power outage map showed nearly 3,000 customers were affected in Pooler after Monday evening’s storms.

The map showed that the most affected areas are around I-95 at Highway 80 and I-95 at I-16.

2,959 customers in total were affected as of 8 p.m. on Monday.

Georgia Power representatives wrote to WTOC just before 9 p.m. that they had restored nearly 3,000 outages within an hour of the storm’s passing.

About 1,400 outages remained as of 9 p.m. in the Pooler and Rincon areas.

“Intense storms this afternoon caused numerous outages across the Coastal area. Our crews are actively working as quickly and safely as possible to restore full power to the affected areas,” they wrote. “Updates will be made to the outage map when available. We appreciate our customers’ patience while we address the remaining outages. We also urge the public to stay clear of any downed powerlines and do not attempt to remove any branches near or on downed powerlines.”

We are currently seeing about 1,400 outages remaining. Crews are assessing the situation in several areas still impacted. Updates will be made to the outage map when available.
