COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - Republican candidates vying to become South Carolina’s next governor gathered for one final debate before the June 9 primary election.

Tuesday’s debate was held on the campus of Wofford College in Spartanburg, with U.S. Rep. Nancy Mace, U.S. Rep. Ralph Norman, businessman Rom Reddy and South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson in attendance.

WHO WASN’T AT THE DEBATE

Officials with the South Carolina Republican Party said an invitation was extended to South Carolina Lt. Gov. Pamela Evette. Evette declined, instead scheduling a campaign event in North Myrtle Beach on Tuesday.

Party leaders also said candidates were required to meet a 5% minimum polling average to receive an invitation to Tuesday’s debate. State Sen. Josh Kimbrell did not meet that requirement.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

Should the June 9 primary result in a runoff, a final debate has been scheduled for June 16 in Conway on the campus of Coastal Carolina University.
