Tybee rolls out ‘Toilet Paper Cutting’ ceremony for $2.2M sewer upgrade

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - The City of Tybee Island is celebrating the completion of major sewer infrastructure improvements on the island’s North End.
City leaders will hold a “Toilet Paper Cutting” ceremony Tuesday, June 3, at 11 a.m. at 37 Pulaski Street.
The project represents a $2.2 million investment in sewer upgrades aimed at improving reliability, resiliency and long-term service for residents and visitors in the North End neighborhood.
Mayor Brian West, City Manager Bret Bell, City Council members and residents are expected to attend.
Mayor West said the project is an important investment in Tybee Island’s infrastructure and future, adding that while the ceremony will have a fun twist, the improvements are significant for those who rely on the system every day.
City officials said the work is part of ongoing efforts to modernize aging utilities and improve quality of life across the island.
