Sea turtle-themed art exhibit returns to Hilton Head to support conservation efforts

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, Sc. (WTOC) - A sea turtle-themed art exhibit is returning to Hilton Head Island later this month to raise money and awareness for local sea turtle conservation efforts.
The Halfway Home exhibit will be on display July 21-31 at the Art League Academy, featuring artwork from local artists inspired by Hilton Head Island’s sea turtles.
The annual fundraiser benefits Sea Turtle Patrol HHI, with 20% of all artwork sales and class tuition supporting the nonprofit’s mission to protect sea turtle nests and hatchlings throughout nesting season.
In addition to the exhibit, visitors can take part in sea turtle-themed art classes and attend a free Turtle Talk on Friday, July 24, at 2 p.m. The presentation, led by a Sea Turtle Patrol volunteer, will focus on Hilton Head’s sea turtle population, nesting season and local conservation efforts.
The exhibit is open weekdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. A free closing reception will be held Friday, July 31, from 5 to 7 p.m., giving guests the opportunity to meet participating artists, Sea Turtle Patrol volunteers and enjoy light refreshments.
Organizers say the annual event combines art, education and conservation while helping protect one of Hilton Head Island’s most recognizable wildlife species.
