Savannah Police Dept. makes arrest, seizes illegal drugs following search

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - 32-year-old Timothy Simpson was arrested by Savannah Police on July 25th for trafficking illegal drugs and possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance.

Savannah Police said this arrest was made with the assistance of the Chatham Savannah Narcotics Team.

Savannah Police said they responded to information from the public and detained Simpson pending the search of a residence in the 10 block of Hughes Ave.

Police said the search uncovered approximately 7.5 lb. of marijuana edibles, 0.5 lb. of psilocybin mushroom edibles, and approximately 2 lb. of marijuana.

A K9 unit found another 16.9 lb. of marijuana near the residence.

“This was an outstanding collaboration between SPD and the Chatham Savannah Narcotics Team,” said Chief Lenny B. Gunther. “I’m especially proud of the work that the SPD K9 Unit has done in this case to help keep dangerous drugs out of our community.”

Savannah Police said this investigation is ongoing.
