SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - LSU basketball champion and rapper Flau’jae is back in Savannah for her third annual Back to School Giveback Festival.

The Savannah native partnered with Powerade, Puma, and the Kay Yow Cancer Fun.

It all started Friday with mobile mammograms and continued with a festival Saturday.

They gave away backpacks, shoes, clothing, and other resources as students gear up to go back to the classroom.

WTOC was at the event as Flau’jae shared the personal significance of attending events like this one.

“I was one of them, and I was just looking for a little bit of hope and I feel like that is what this event should bring - a little bit of hope to the kids, a little bit of fun before school and giving them what they need. A lot of people can’t afford it right now the way the economy is and things right now, this will be a big help so I’m just thankful that I can,” said Johnson.

This is her third year hosting the giveaway and says the crowd grows in size every year.
