Savannah man sentenced to nearly 10 years in prison on drug, gun charges

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - A Savannah man was sentenced to nearly 10 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to drug trafficking and firearm charges.
Jamel Adams, 42, was sentenced to 116 months, followed by three years of supervised release, for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and fentanyl, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. The sentencing was announced by U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Georgia Margaret “Meg” Heap.
According to court documents, Savannah Police attempted to pull Adams over, but he fled. After being apprehended, officers found 20 grams of methamphetamine and 31 grams of fentanyl in his car.
“This sentence reflects the serious consequences for those who choose to threaten the safety and well-being of our communities,” said U.S. Attorney Heap. “Our office, together with our law enforcement partners, remains committed to aggressively prosecuting offenders who endanger the public and holding them accountable under federal law.”
The case was investigated by the ATF and the Savannah Police Department.
