Savannah-Chatham County Board of Public Education to dedicate police annex to former leader Larry Lower

GARDEN CITY, Ga. — The Savannah-Chatham County Board of Public Education announced that it will dedicate its school police department annex building to longtime public servant Larry Lower on Thursday, Aug. 20, 2026.
Lower, a Marine Corps veteran, served the local community as a police chief, school resource officer, and school board member. He is also credited with establishing the school district’s Junior Police Academy, which continues to mentor local youth.
District officials said naming the building after Lower reflects his lifelong dedication to local students and community safety.
