Parkgoers left dangling in the air after Six Flags Over Georgia ride pauses

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — Some Six Flags Over Georgia visitors were left hundreds of feet in the air after one of the park’s rides paused earlier this month.
Dubbed the SkyScreamer, the ride spins twin swings up to 260 feet in the air at 40 mph. But on June 14, the attraction paused for about 10 minutes, sparking some riders to take videos that went viral.
Six Flags officials said the ride experienced a technical delay, “similar to a check engine light.”
“Its safety system performed as designed, keeping all guests safe,” the company continued. “Following a complete systems check, the ride was returned to its loading position and guests exited the ride.”
A similar incident happened at Six Flags St. Louis in Missouri on June 12. A family of four — including two children — was stuck on the SkyScreamer for about three hours and had to be rescued by firefighters, according to KMOV, Atlanta News First’s sister station.
