Wexford Irish Pub wraps third annual Irish Music Festival in Savannah

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Wexford Irish Pub hosted its third annual Irish Music Festival this weekend near City Market, wrapping up Sunday night with what some attendees described as good craic — an Irish term for fun and festivity.

The four-day festival featured seven acts performing from noon to 8 p.m. on stages inside and outside the pub.

Filling a void in the Irish music scene

The Galway Rogues closed out the festival Sunday and have performed at each edition since playing the Wexford grand opening in 2024.

Musician Michael Corbett said the festival stands apart from other live music events in the city.

“It’s not often that you get to see four or five acts in one weekend in Savannah outside of maybe St. Patrick’s Day,” Corbett said.

Corbett said the festival fills a gap left when Kevin Barry’s closed in 2019.

“They created a home for tourists, a home for locals, and a home for musicians, and that is really what an Irish pub is all about,” Corbett said.

Crowds connect over Irish tunes

Jessica Dierdorff, a flight attendant passing through Savannah, spent her Sunday at the festival. She said the music carried personal meaning.

“No matter where I am, especially at Irish pubs throughout the country, it just brings me back home,” Dierdorff said.

She said the turnout reflected the broader appeal of the music.

“It just brings connection — I mean look at the crowd they have tonight, you know, whether you are Irish or not, there is something just so mystical, so special about the emerald isle,” Dierdorff said.

Corbett said the crowd’s energy during a call-and-response portion of the set stood out.

“This crowd here is pretty special, so I think we are going to blow the roof off the place,” he said.

Wexford Irish Pub offers live entertainment every weekend.
