Kai Cenat ‘Streamer University’ event brings massive crowd to State Farm Arena

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — An event hosted by one of the world’s top internet streamers that previously caused chaos in Atlanta was shut down at State Farm Arena on Wednesday.

Kai Cenat, who has more than 20 million followers and more than 1 million paid subscribers on the streaming platform Twitch, said he would host auditions for his Streamer University program at Gate 2 at 1 p.m.

The bootcamp is meant to teach people how to become better streamers and internet influencers.

At around 2:30 p.m., Atlanta police said the event had ended with no serious incidents. Not long after, State Farm Arena said the auditions were stopped due to the “overwhelming number of people” in attendance, causing safety concerns.

Those still in line were asked to leave, the arena added. A large number of police officers, including some on horseback, dispersed the crowd.

At least 1,000 people could be seen outside the arena before the event even started. Just after 10 a.m., Cenat urged attendees to stay safe and follow instructions so the event didn’t get shut down.

“Atlanta, please back off the glass and form a line,” he posted on social media. “We want to keep the event open, but if safety requirements aren’t being followed, the decision to shut it down will be made by the city, not by us.”

Attendees had to be 18 years old to enter, and a government ID was required, he said. There was also a clear bag policy in place at the arena.

“Please work with us so we can keep things moving,” Cenat said.

The event was originally scheduled for Tuesday in Summerhill, but the star postponed it after multiple venues backed out and police discouraged attendees from coming. But that didn’t stop people from showing up as early as Monday, leading to chaotic crowds and seven arrests, according to Atlanta police.

The arrestees’ charges ranged from disorderly conduct and simple assault to drug offenses and simple battery on a law enforcement officer.

Online rumors claimed a bomb exploded or a shooting broke out at the gathering, but the reports are false.

At least one person was arrested on Wednesday for straying into the road, Atlanta police said.

Atlanta News First has reached out to the arena and Atlanta police for comment. A source tells ANF that this was a sanctioned event at the arena.

Cenat has also held auditions in New York City and Los Angeles within the last week. Atlanta was the last chance for would-be attendees to impress the streamer, who is best known for his comedic content and celebrity interviews.
