ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — Gov. Brian Kemp has ordered flags flown at half-staff to honor the late Sen. Lindsey Graham.
The longtime Republican U.S. senator for South Carolina died over the weekend at 71.
On Monday, Kemp issued an executive order for state and U.S. flags to fly at half-staff on all state buildings and grounds until sunset on Saturday.
In his order, Kemp called Graham “a faithful public servant and patriot,” highlighting his long career in Congress and his service in the U.S. Air Force and Air Force Reserve.

Graham died Saturday after a tear in his aorta, according to a preliminary medical examiner finding shared by his office.
The tear in the inner wall of the aorta, called an aortic dissection, was related to the hardening of Graham’s arteries. An official cause of death will be disclosed after toxicological and microscopic testing.
