GBI investigating shooting at Hinesville bar

HINESVILLE, Ga. (WTOC) -[ UPDATE: 8/29/2026 4:29 P.M.]- The GBI has identified the injured man as 31-year-old Cashane Cadeem Calder of Hinesville and released new details about what led to the shooting.

Investigators say two Hinesville police officers were working off duty at the business when a fight involving several people broke out around 1:50 a.m. The group eventually moved outside.

According to the GBI’s preliminary investigation, a customer alerted one of the officers to the fight. As the officer approached the building, Calder allegedly fired a handgun multiple times into the crowd. One of the officers returned fire, striking Calder several times.

Calder was taken to a hospital and is listed in stable but critical condition.

No officers were injured.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is investigating a shooting at a Hinesville bar.
