Free ice skating, live music headline Port Wentworth’s 912 Community Day

PORT WENTWORTH, Ga. (WTOC) - Port Wentworth is inviting the community to celebrate one of the city’s newest entertainment destinations with free ice skating, live music and family-friendly activities.
The city will partner with VyStar Pavilion and Ice Cove Arena to host 912 Community Day on Saturday, Sept. 12, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 20 Anchor Park Blvd.
The free event will begin with ribbon-cutting ceremonies for VyStar Pavilion and Ice Cove Arena. Officials will also celebrate the opening of the Frozen Anchor Sports Bar and the venue’s pro shop.
VyStar Pavilion hosted its first ticketed concert on Aug. 1. The Sept. 12 ceremony will mark the completion of the full venue complex and its official opening to the surrounding community.
“It’s a fantastic accomplishment for the city to complete a project of this magnitude,” City Manager Steve Davis said. “We could not have done it without the support of our partners Zawyer Sports and Oak View Group.”
Following the ribbon cuttings, visitors can enjoy live music, games, inflatables, bounce houses, crafts, local vendors, food trucks and a mechanical bull.
Ice Cove Arena will offer free public skating on a first-come, first-served basis. The celebration will also feature Jr. Ghost Pirates and Sirens exhibitions, figure skating performances and other activities.
