The press release states that the Chatham County Police Department will not have any further comment on this case, and will not be releasing any additional information at this time.
Additionally, Jamond Reid has a case moving through the court system right now.
He was charged with two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon (which he became when he was previously convicted of aggravated assault in September of 2022) in September 2023.
He was sentenced in that case to 10 years of probation in June 2024, and is currently on probation.
Part of those conditions are that he is not allowed to possess a gun or violate any laws.
The homicide charge connected to the Highway 204 incident happened one month after he was sentenced, in July 2024.
A petition to have his bond revoked was filed last month, in June 2025.
Those doucuments say Jamond was arrested for receipt, possession or transport of a firearm by convicted felon and aggravated assault on May 28th, 2025.
The state filed that his bond should be revoked and he has a probation calendar call in court for this case on August 14, 2025.
