SCDOT discussing U.S. 17-ALT bridge replacement project in Hampton County

YEMASSEE, Sc. (WTOC) - The South Carolina Department of Transportation said it is seeking public comment on the action to amend the 2024-2033 Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) to include a bridge replacement project in Hampton County.

The purpose of the project is to replace the closed bridge on U.S. Highway 17 Alternate over SCL Railroad and S-1 in Hampton County.

The estimated cost for preliminary engineering, right of way, and construction work is $13.1 million.

SCDOT will receive public comment for 21 days from September 18, 2025, through October 8, 2025.

Comments will be accepted through October 8, 2025, and should be submitted to Ginny Jones, Public Involvement Director, SCDOT Office of Public Engagement, 955 Park Street, P.O. Box 191, Columbia, SC 29202.
