Savannah mother pleads not guilty following infant son’s drowning death in bathtub
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - A Savannah mother facing charges after her baby drowned at their home this year, has requested a trial by jury.
Rokerria Gibbs, 28, pleaded not guilty in court Wednesday and requested a trial by jury regarding her baby’s death in March.
Gibbs appeared in person in court because she was already granted bond, with an ankle monitor.

Gibbs appeared alongside her public defender, who announced she is pregnant again.
She is facing 2nd degree murder and child cruelty charges after her 9-month-old son, Legend, drowned in the bathtub in March of this year.
There was a massive police presence at her home on East Anderson Street that day.
According to the indictment, Gibbs left the infant unattended in a bathtub, where he drowned. Baby Legend was taken to the hospital but died the next day.
Prosecutors allege the child’s death was the result of criminal negligence and that the infant suffered because he was left without proper supervision in the tub.
Next court date
Court records show Gibbs has other children but is only allowed to see them with DFACS-approved visitation. She cannot violate any laws while out on bond. She is on house arrest, but not at the home where her child died.
She will be back in court next month to set a trial date.
