Rep. Carl Gilliard recognized for 42 years of service to the state of Georgia
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - The community is honoring State Representatives Carl Gilliard for 42 years of service to the state of Georgia.
The appreciation and birthday event took place Wednesday night at Georgia Southern University’s Armstrong Center in Savannah. Community members celebrated Gilliard and his contributions over the years. The event also included dance and musical performances.
Isaac Newton Farris, the nephew of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., served as the keynote speaker.
Gilliard is from Savannah and attended Alfred Ely Beach High School. He has served as democratic member of the Georgia House of Representatives since 2016, representing District 162.
