Police chase, drug bust details given by Chatham Co. Sheriff
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - [UPDATE 3:56 p.m. 7/25/2025] Below are photographs of the drugs and weapons confiscated by the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office today, along with images of the vehicle involved.
The Sheriff says all of this will be sent to the ATF on Monday, July 28.









[UPDATE 2:45 p.m. 7/25/2025] Two people were apprehended along with marijuana, a “powdery substance,” and some handguns, according to the Chatham County Sheriff.
This is after a traffic violation led to a chase with police which ended near the Westlake apartments.
The Sheriff called this “an example of proactive law enforcement before crimes happen or those drugs hit the streets.”
At the end of the press meeting, it was also announced that the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office has hired former Savannah Police Department Chief Roy Minter.
Minter will oversee the criminal division, according to the Sheriff.
[UPDATE 1:12 p.m. 7/25/2025] A press briefing will be held by the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office at 2:15 p.m. today regarding this drug bust.

[ORIGINAL STORY] A traffic violation led to a chase and apprehension of two suspects in Westlake, WTOC has just learned.
The Chatham County Sheriff’s Office told us they have recovered “large amounts of drugs and weapons” but have not yet provided additional information.
