Pedestrian killed in Jasper County early morning collision

JASPER COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) - The South Carolina Highway Patrol reported details of a fatal collision that resulted in the death of a pedestrian Wednesday morning.

SCHP says the collision occurred at around 3:16 a.m., on SC 170 near Red Oaks Lane.

Highway patrol said there were two units involved in the collision. Unit one was a 2024 box truck and unit two was a pedestrian.

The pedestrian sustained fatal injuries, while the driver of the 2024 box truck, the only occupant of that vehicle, was not injured.

According to South Carolina Highway Patrol, the 2024 box truck was traveling east on SC 170, while the pedestrian was trying to cross SC 170.

The box truck hit the pedestrian, per highway patrol.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol said this collision remains under investigation.
